Students who want to study at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in 2027 still have time to submit their applications, but the deadline is getting closer.

The University of Johannesburg has confirmed that applications for all undergraduate programmes for the 2027 academic year will close on 31 October 2026 at 12:00.

Prospective students who have not yet applied are encouraged to complete their applications before the closing date and make sure that all the information provided is correct.

When Do UJ 2027 Applications Close?

According to the official UJ 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus, applications for all undergraduate programmes close on:

Date: 31 October 2026
Time: 12:00

The same deadline applies to undergraduate student accommodation applications.

This means students interested in starting an undergraduate qualification at UJ in 2027 should not wait until the final day to apply.

Who Can Apply to UJ for 2027?

The UJ 2027 application process is open to prospective students who want to study towards undergraduate qualifications, including degrees and diplomas, subject to the admission requirements for their chosen programme.

Applicants must select their preferred study choices and make sure that they meet the relevant admission requirements.

UJ allows applicants to select two academic application choices. Once an application has been processed, the university states that applicants cannot make amendments, modifications or cancellations to their academic choices.

Students should therefore carefully consider their choices before submitting their application.

How to Apply to UJ for 2027

Prospective students can apply online through the official UJ application system.

The application process involves selecting the qualification choices and submitting the required information and supporting documents.

UJ application process

Applicants should:

  1. Visit the official UJ application website.

  2. Select Apply.

  3. Choose their first and second qualification choices.

  4. Check that they meet the admission requirements for their selected programmes.

  5. Complete the required personal and academic information.

  6. Submit the application.

  7. Keep their application or student number for future reference.

  8. Regularly check their application status and email for communication from UJ.

UJ states that applicants should allow approximately three weeks before checking the status of their application.

Is There an Application Fee at UJ?

For undergraduate applications, UJ states that no application fee is charged for online and paper-based applications.

Applicants should also be careful of individuals who claim that they can guarantee admission to UJ in exchange for money.

The university specifically warns applicants about people offering assistance to gain access to UJ and advises applicants to report such incidents.

Does Meeting the Requirements Guarantee Admission?

    No.

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not automatically guarantee a place at UJ.

The university explains that there are a limited number of places available for new undergraduate first-year students, based on the approved enrolment plan.

Applicants should therefore make sure that their applications are submitted correctly and before the closing date.

    What Happens After Applying?

After submitting an application, prospective students can monitor their application status through the UJ student portal.

The application status system allows applicants to use their student number or ID/passport number together with the contact information used during the application.

Students should also regularly check the email address and cellphone number they provided during the application process because UJ uses these details for official communication.

    UJ 2027 Application Closing Date

The important date to remember is:

UJ 2027 undergraduate applications close on 31 October 2026 at 12:00.

Students who have not yet applied should try to complete their applications well before the deadline instead of waiting until the last few hours.

It is also important to remember that submitting an application does not automatically mean that a student has been accepted. Applicants must still go through the university’s selection and admission process.

    Final Reminder for Students

If you are planning to study at the University of Johannesburg in 2027, now is the time to make sure your application is submitted.
